Towards this objective, it contextualizes the recognition of this science by the Brazilian Ministry of Education as a field of knowledge, as well as its acknowledgment in other countries. Furthermore, the work delves into the nature and complexity of police activity, considering the high crime rates and its current developments. It also explores foundational concepts of this field of knowledge and emphasizes the urgency for this science to evolve in order to justify the existence and advancement of the police as an institution.
2025-10-07T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Enzo Igrejas Taranto Mezacasa, Enzo de Oliveira Camargo, Alice Schlickmann Rottgers do Livramentohttp://3.93.192.120/index.php/RIBSP/article/view/335Editorial2025-10-07T12:00:17+00:00admin adminibsp@ibsp.org.br
Editorial
2025-10-07T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 admin adminhttp://3.93.192.120/index.php/RIBSP/article/view/306EXTENSION SEMINAR CHALLENGES AND INNOVATIONS IN THE PRACTICE OF ACADEMIC PRODUCTION IN POLICE SCIENCES: EXPERIENCE REPORT2025-10-07T23:04:22+00:00Silvana Rodrigues de Souzaauxpesquisasepe@gmail.comLuciana Mara Silvalucianamaragbe@gmail.comSérgio Ricardo Trombettaricatrom@gmail.comAlexandre Lucas Schützxandeschutz49@gmail.com
The recognition of Police Sciences as a new academic field in Brazil marks a significant advancement in research and higher education within the realm of public security. This study reports on the experience of organizing an extension seminar grounded in the principles of Police Sciences. The event, promoted by the Faculty of Military Police of Trindade (APMT), aimed to equip participants with the skills to produce ethical and high-quality academic work. Topics included academic ethics, copyright, the use of artificial intelligence, and research methodologies, with the overarching goal of strengthening scientific production in the field. Participant satisfaction and learning outcomes were assessed through an online questionnaire administered after the seminar. Results indicate that the seminar's objectives were successfully met, fostering ethical practices and innovation in Police Sciences research while encouraging future educational initiatives. One key area for improvement identified was the need for more active involvement of course coordinators and instructors from APMT, given their critical role in disseminating knowledge to students and enhancing academic-scientific outputs. In light of the seminar’s positive impact, the creation of a more comprehensive course focused exclusively on scientific production in Police Sciences was proposed, aiming to deepen knowledge across the various stages of research and academic writing.
2025-10-07T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Silvana Rodrigues de Souza, Luciana Mara Silva, Sérgio Ricardo Trombetta, Alexandre Lucas Schützhttp://3.93.192.120/index.php/RIBSP/article/view/309GENERAL THEORY OF POLICE SCIENCES APPLIED TO THE PRESERVATION OF PUBLIC ORDER2025-10-07T23:04:17+00:00Nazareno Marcineironazarenomarcineiro@gmail.com
This article discusses the consolidation of Police Sciences as an autonomous and applied scientific field aligned with the constitutional mission of the Military Police to carry out ostensive policing and preserve public order. A qualitative and deductive approach is adopted to review the legal, historical, and epistemological framework that underpins police activity. The text proposes overcoming the prevailing technicist model in institutions through the adoption of scientific references and the systematization of police knowledge. The epistemology of Johannes Hessen is presented as a theoretical foundation to validate the production of knowledge in Police Sciences, articulating reason and experience, criticism, phenomenalism, and truth as the correspondence between thought and reality. The GM-25 Legal Opinion from Brazil's Office of the Attorney General is analyzed as a legal instrument that legitimizes the exercise of administrative police power by the Military Police in its four phases: regulation, consent, inspection, and sanction. Finally, the article argues that Police Sciences represent an emerging paradigm capable of enhancing public security from the perspective of human dignity, scientific knowledge, and the rule of law.
2025-10-07T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Nazareno Marcineirohttp://3.93.192.120/index.php/RIBSP/article/view/310SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION IN PUBLIC SECURITY2025-10-07T23:04:15+00:00Dilva Páscoa de Marco Fazzionidilvafazzioni5@gmail.com
This article proposes a discussion on the importance of public safety agents mastering informational resources, including knowledge about databases and scientific journals. The central objective was to assess the extent to which internal and external supervision mechanisms contributed to the transparency and accountability of security forces. To this end, bibliographic and documentary research was used, using the deductive method, through a descriptive study, with a qualitative emphasis. The results confirmed the hypothesis that the control mechanisms presented structural and institutional deficiencies, allowing excessive autonomy for security agents and making it difficult to monitor abuses. There was a need for reforms to strengthen supervision mechanisms, increase institutional transparency and encourage social participation in the regulation of police activity. Greater autonomy for internal affairs bodies, improvement of monitoring tools and continuous training of agents are recommended. The main contribution of this study is the critical evaluation of the police control structure, highlighting paths for improvement. Future research can explore successful international models and their possible adaptation to the Brazilian context.
2025-10-07T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Carlos Alberto Miranda Santos, Luís Henrique Santos Sousahttp://3.93.192.120/index.php/RIBSP/article/view/254Analysis of the Mental Health of Penitentiary Professionals:2025-10-07T23:04:34+00:00Ana Rafaela Moreira Rochaanarafaela.psi@gmail.comPierre Augusto Victor da Silva pierreaugusto@gmail.comPedro Luiz Ferroprof.drpedroluizferro@gmail.comAdriana Madeira Alvares da Silvaadriana.biomol@gmail.com
Prison officers face adverse working conditions, such as violence, overcrowding, and constant exposure to stress, which directly impacts their mental health. The heavy workload, combined with social pressure and lack of organizational support, contributes to the development of disorders such as anxiety, depression, and burnout syndrome. The situation is exacerbated by the lack of effective public policies to address the stress faced by these professionals.

This study employed a systematic and critical review of the literature, aiming to analyze the impacts of stress and other factors on the mental health of prison officers. The research was conducted using databases such as Scopus, Embase, PubMed, and Google Scholar, applying strict inclusion criteria. Seven studies addressing occupational stress, burnout, mental disorders, and the health of prison officers were selected.

The studies revealed that prison officers experience high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression due to factors such as excessive workload, insecurity, and violent environments. Constant exposure to risk and lack of institutional support were identified as major causes of psychological suffering. Additionally, burnout rates among professionals are high, reflecting the inadequacy of working conditions.

The review highlighted the urgency of implementing public policies and psychological support strategies to mitigate the impact of stress and promote the well-being of prison officers.
2025-10-07T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Ana Rafaela Moreira Rocha, Pierre Augusto Victor da Silva , Pedro Luiz Ferro, Adriana Madeira Alvares da Silvahttp://3.93.192.120/index.php/RIBSP/article/view/255Medo, mídia e uso do discurso de (in)segurança como fator legitimador da política2025-10-07T23:04:31+00:00Eduardo Henrique Titão Mottaedutitton@msn.com
The space for political discussion moves towards public security. Militarization of life, toughening of sentences and resurgence of speech are threats to democracy. This is inspired by the participation of the media in the perception of reality by individuals. With their notions of reality less and less fueled by concrete facts, they are compelled towards an increasingly heated market: the market of fear. However, not only does the market reap the rewards of increased insecurity, but politicians also take advantage of it as campaign platforms. Criminal law and increasingly more control are presented as the only solutions to the fear of crime, legitimizing policies aimed at reducing procedural guarantees and hyper-incarceration.
2025-10-07T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Eduardo Henrique Titão Motta
