In the context of high criminal indexes and little articulation between State Military Corporations, the National Council of Commanders-General PM / BM - CNCG emerged, with the purpose of participating in the formulation of public security policies and guidelines. The central question of this work is to understand the role of the CNCG-PM / BM in the definition of the strategic guidelines of Public Security in Brazil. Based on bibliographic and documentary surveys, the research showed that the Collegiate plays a relevant role in the articulation of guidelines for Public Security; its deliberations are quickly institutionalized, as a result of the debate between the Commanders-General. He also emphasized that the strategic importance of the CNCG is highlighted in the number of troops it represents, more effective than that of the Armed Forces, and also, through the exchange of experiences of Commanders and managers, support in training, and also in the possibility of specialization. military personnel in other countries.
