PRACTICES OF THE MILITARY POLICE OF GOIÁS IN THE LOCATION AND CAPTURE OF CRIMINAL FUGITIVES OF JUSTICE

This article studied the practices adopted by military police in locating and capturing fugitives from justice. It was based on eight individual interviews with military police officers in the metropolitan area of the capital of the State of Goiás who had a high level of efficiency in locating and capturing wanted people with arrest warrants and fugitives from the prison system. The results show empirically that these professionals adopt similar methodologies, such as, police intelligence techniques, use of computerized systems, use of open sources, professional experience combined with creativity to achieve results in the capture and use of criminal database personnel. It was concluded that the skills resulting from the police experience combined with the use of a system to consult information on criminals, especially the National Bank of Arrest Warrant, proximity policing practices aimed at sharing criminal information are the most successful and recurrent practices in capture of sentenced by justice.
